A rough estimate, not a payout prediction
X's creator ad-revenue-sharing program pays eligible creators a share of advertising revenue shown in replies to their posts, based on engagement from verified accounts. This estimates a plausible monthly and yearly figure from your monthly impressions and an assumed RPM — revenue per thousand impressions — so you can see roughly what different traffic levels translate to. It is a planning estimate, not a number the platform has confirmed, because the actual formula and rate are not fully public.
Monthly revenue = (impressions × RPM) ÷ 1000Why the real number can differ substantially
- RPM varies enormously by audience, niche, and time period — a default assumed rate is a starting point for exploring the maths, not a rate the platform guarantees any individual creator.
- Only verified-account engagement counts toward payouts in the actual program, so impressions from non-verified accounts, even in large numbers, do not contribute the way this simplified formula assumes.
- Eligibility requirements — a minimum follower count, a minimum engagement threshold over a rolling period, and X Premium or Verified Organizations subscription status — gate participation entirely; someone who does not meet them earns nothing regardless of impressions.
- The platform has changed its formula before and can again — an estimate based on today's assumed rate can be wrong by the time a payout actually happens.
What to actually do with the estimate
Use it to compare scenarios against each other — "what if my impressions doubled" or "how does a higher engagement rate change the picture" — rather than as a number to plan real income around. For an actual payout figure, the platform's own creator dashboard is the only source that reflects real, measured performance under the real formula, including whatever adjustments and eligibility filtering it applies that a simple estimate cannot replicate.
